El modelo estratégico nace con la aspiración de otorgarle un campo propio a la mediación y como resultado de un largo proceso de investigación que incluyó la apropiación de saberes de diferentes disciplinas científicas y de la interacción entre la teoría informada por la práctica cotidiana del autor. El modelo integra los postulados de sus colegas de la Escuela de Harvard, del Circular Narrativo y del Transformativo, sin ser ninguno de ellos. Sostiene que la mediación es, esencialmente, un proceso formal que trasciende el contenido del conflicto que se pretende resolver. Altamente estructurado en etapas, estadios y pasajes, está movilizado por tres grandes objetivos: la deconstrucción del conflicto, la reconstrucción de la relación y la co – construcción de la solución. Concibe el conflicto como un fenómeno social que, como tal, comprende varias realidades, lo que fundamenta mantener un foco permanente en los patrones de interacción, trabajar a partir de las narrativas de las partes e incluir al mediador en el sistema mismo que conforma con ellas.

The Strategic Mediation Model is born with the aspiration of giving Mediation its own field. It is the result of a long research process which included the appropriation of knowledge from different scientific disciplines and the interaction between the acquired theory and the daily practice of the author. The Model integrates the postulates of the colleagues from Harvard School, from the Narrative Circular theory and from the Transformative one, without being any of them. It believes Mediation is, essentially, a formal process that goes beyond the content of the conflict it pretends to solve. It is highly structured in steps, stages and passages and it is mobilized by three great objectives: deconstruction of the conflict, reconstruction of the relationship and co construction of the solution. It conceives the conflict as a social phenomenon that includes, as such, various realities. This requires keeping a permanent focus on the interaction patterns; working from the parties’ narratives on and including the mediator in the system he forms with them.
